Virtual Shopping Aisle
While working on interface design for IMI, I was asked if it would be possible to design a dynamic 3D envoronment for virtual shelf-testing for their FMCG clients. The application had to work seamlessly in desktop browsers without the need for additional utilities or plugins.
Project details
I was able to leverage a library of HTML5 tools including JavaScript and 'CSS Transforms' to simulate a 3D shopping aisle with 'clickable' products that could be tracked and stored in a database for analysis.
I worked with their Chief Technical Officer who built the database and liaised with me on connecting it to the font-end. Every product on screen is clickable to enable market researchers to run tests on respondent preferences and evaluate the results.
Arrow keys on the keyboard are required to navigate the app, so it currently only works on desktop browsers (not mobile devices unfortunately).
